Power and Performance

The DC618K's engine design allows the tool to work as fast as you do with consistent nail penetration into both soft and hard joints. The 20-degree angled magazine (with up to 120-nail capacity) will accept DEWALT and Paslode 20-degree nails, and it has a rear-load magazine. You'll have easy access to the nosepiece for the removal of jammed nails without the use of screwdrivers or tool wrenches, and the contact trip lock-off allows trigger to be disabled when not in use.

Comfort and Convenience

You can select sequential operating mode to ensure precision placement of each nail or a bump operating mode that allows you to harness top speed. A 6 position dial enables you to move between applications without having to re-acquire exact depth setting. And at just 8.5 pounds, this tool is lightweight for easy maneuvering and reduced operator fatigue. This nailer also includes integrated LED lights for perfect placement in low-lit or shadowy areas.

DEWALT's XRP Extended-Life Battery System

A tool's only useful if it runs long enough to get the job done, and the DEWALT XRP extended run time batteries keep the DC618K running at full tilt. They provide up to 40 percent more run time than standard Ni-Cad batteries, and any XRP battery can be used with any 18-volt DEWALT tool, which allows you to expand your system by adding other DEWALT cordless tools (sold separately) as the demands of your job grow.

The DC618K comes with one 18-volt XRP battery and a 1-hour charger.

Warranty

This DEWALT tool is backed by three-year limited warranty covering any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship (from the date of purchase). It's also covered by DEWALT's two-year free service contract, where DEWALT will maintain the tool and replace worn parts caused by normal use--for free.

With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

DeWalt Scores First Time Out!
No, I am NOT a pro finish guy--former pro-painter guy. I have remodeled about half my house so far, so I would most likely just be a DIY guy. HOWEVER, my experience with interior painting on high-end, high-production tract home projects has made me expert in making the finished product look great no matter what (even though the popular phrase around the jobsite was "the painters will fix it").

Just picked the nailer up August 31st from H.D...

First impressions: This thing is freakin' heavy! I compared it to my Senco FramePro 702XP framing nailer (with 1 stick of 3 1/2 nails in it) and they weigh the same (about 8 pounds). My neighbor has a Senco AirFree cordless nailer, it feels like a toy in comparison to the DeWalt.

Pro's:

* Cordless! Don't have to drag out the air compressor.

* Cool headlights. Good for doing trim in darker areas.

* Shoots 16 gauge angled stick nails (Paslode nails were all I could find to...

it works good!
Just bought this tool in sept. and used it to frame several door jambs and casing. it works good. a little heavy, but a lot lighter than a compressor, hose etc. if you buy the angle gun the price of the nails are about 50% more than if you buy the other dewalt straight nailer. because at hd you can buy paslode nails for this angle gun or with the straight gun you can buy senco or porter cable nails. however the angle nailer is better for reaching into corners. As with most dewalt tools you have to use them for 15-30 days to make sure they do not fall apart or break down. but so far I recommend this gun. GUN UPDATE:>12-1-04: IT WORKS GREAT!. have done several jobs no compressors or hoses, entire house molding, casing and the gun works great. no hassels with hoses and watching out so nothing gets knocked over. I have used this gun now for 90 days and have had great success. good job dewalt.
Good tool and It makes a lot of sense if you own 18V tools now
This tool is solid and works as advertised. So it weighs 8.5 lbs... if you are going to be nailing over your head for hours straight then break out the air hose. I did the same when using my Paslode.

This tool replaced my Paslode Impulse Finish nailer. I've not looked back. Ample power and drives nails well with very predictable depth control.

Get the angled nailer, easier to place and nail in tighter spots. With the size of the gun, you'll need it.

If you are looking for the possible negatives...

Somewhat costly to purchase

It is heavy, but the tool compensates me for this with performance and convenience

I miss being able to sit the tool down on the front face like the Paslode. The Dewalt rolls over sideways if you try. This makes it difficult to set it down and retrieve from the floor or a ladder shelf. I glued rubber feet to the front, problem solved.

If doing production, long nails, hard wood... keep...

Perfect for finish and trim work that requires getting into small spaces, this Impulse finish nailer from Paslode lets you avoid the hassle of compressor hoses and compressor noise. The nailer's small, lightweight body (just under 5 pounds) is easy to grip and, because you're not hooked up to a hose, doesn't cause as much arm fatigue as other nailers. It drives 1-1/4- to 2-1/2-inch nails and has easy-to-adjust drive depth, a probe position indicator, and an angled clip for improved maneuverability. This Paslode nailer uses a patented system that requires both a fuel cell and an included rechargeable battery. We were impressed with the gun's performance--it's consistent and provides plenty of power for most uses. This model will shoot up to 1,200 nails on a single fuel cell and up to 4,000 nails on a full battery charge. It has a convenient belt hanger, too, so you won't have to lay it on the ground or on top of a ladder, and the high-visibility orange makes it difficult to overlook. The kit includes a plastic carrying case and a lightweight charger. Please note that the nailer does not come with the fuel cell included.Ideal for professional remodelers, carpenters, and contractors, the Paslode 900600 Fuel-Powered Cordless 16-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer boasts an open line of sight and an angled magazine, so you can fasten any molding with precision. Works flawlessly if you have a fresh fuel cell
This nailer works great. If the tool fails to fire or jams frequently (if you read other reviews you'll read about complaints of this happening, where they drepress the nose several times and then it works for a while, etc): CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE ON THE FUEL CELL.
An expired fuel cell will make the tool malfunction randomly (drive 3-5 nails, not work, drive 3 more then not work or jam, etc). Creating huge amounts of frustration.

I have a set of Impulse nailers (framing and trim) and both worked flawlessly when I first bought them. I use them for home projects, that is, it can be a year or more before I use it on another project. Last year I started a new project and the framing nailer started not firing after driving 3-5 nails. I cleaned, oiled and cleaned again with temporary results after a few nails. The "usual procedure" is to depress the nose 10 times on the trim and at some point it starts firing again. Needless to say frustrating enough to make you want...

awesome nailgun
I use alot of tools, have read alot of reviews but have never been inspired to write one,Until Now!Leave the compressor and hose at home,Forever..This cordless finish gun is the only one you need,it has every bit the power as a pnuematic. The features are great, depth of drive that lets you know where its at and which way you need to go.Nail lockout that every nailgun should have, atleast high end,Period.Quick clear jam lever. At 4.9 pounds it may not be the lightest finish gun,but with no tail attached you can manuever it like its floating on air.The angled magazine appears to be 20 degrees, which hasnt been a problem getting into corners or tight spots, but use's special 16 ga. nails, not the 15ga. senco type nail most of us already have, but it does hold as many nails and is still more compact. The nails are priced competitively,The fuel cells on the other hand are half the size as the other paslode guns but cost the Same? The cost must be in manufacturing the cylinder not the fuel,The...
Paslode Tools will make the job easier
We own several different Paslode nail guns, including the framing nailer and the straight finish nailer. We began using the Paslode products about 4 years ago. I will say that the new guns we have purchased in the last few months are significantly better than the quality of the guns purchased just a year ago. Don't get me wrong, we weren't disappointed with our purchase a year ago, it's just that these "newest generation" guns fire smoother, have more power and have been more consistent.

I have heard others complain about the cost of gas cartridges and replacement batteries and that the guns have to be reloaded fairly often. I will say that all of these are very minor inconveniences when compared to the overall benefits of these tools.

We now own about 10 of these various Paslode guns for our crews and they are truly a great tool. While they are quite a bit more expensive than the air tools, the freedom of use that this style of gun offers and how it will make your work...

Great air station, but keep the manual
This compressor/inflator is very attractive. It is also lightweight and all the accessories with the exception of the charger store right on the unit.

I have owned compressors and I have owned high volume inflators. However, I have not owned a unit that includes both functions, and none of my units have ever been cordless.

Mounted on the front of the unit are three connectors for inflatables and balls. The high volume hose has a large connector and there is also a high volume adapter for pushing in the internal flap of some inflatables. On the front is an LED light for working in the dark.

The digital dial is bright and easy to read both in daylight and at night, and it has a sleep mode to save battery life.

Right out of the box, I see nothing but perks.

THE OPERATION

Operating the pump was not intuitive. First, I hooked up the pump to the tire and pushed the power button. That is the logical thing to do, and all...

Died after one year
UPDATE 3/23/11: Died. Simply won't work anymore. It's been charged, plugged in to the car accessory port, and the thing simply will not turn on. The digital readout just blinks. Very frustrating. So I guess the lesson here is: don't buy! Changed my 3-star review to 1-star to reflect the failure.

Original review 2/2010: For whatever reason, I have amassed several portable air pumps over the years, apparently attempting to get the "best" one. I've decided there simply isn't one. This one is close, but suffers the same problem my other battery-operated pump had: it HAS to be charged for it to work, and for it to be charged, it must be plugged into a wall socket for a number of hours. Adding to this is that the unit comes with a cigarette-adapter plug, which aids in powering the unit while running the unit (the other battery-operated unit need this too.) To fill all four car tires, it's pretty much a necessity to make use of the adapter.

Operation is...
Nice compact portable inflator
I have been using Black & Deckers ASI300 Air Station for over a year and can safely say that the ASI500 is a much better product. The one marked area of improvement is that the ASI500 is cordless. No more need to drag an extension cord around the car. After reading through the manual, and using the ASI500's digital pressure gage, I checked the tire pressure on one tire. After some trial and error, I was able to go through setting the recommended shut off pressure on the digital gage and inflated our van's tires. I was able to test the claim Black & Decker make about being able to fill four tires on one charge. Without charging, and using only the out of the box factory charge, this was accomplish leaving very little power to spare. I'm guessing that after a full charge the claim would be easily achieved. The ASI500 air station is very compact and easy to carry around. It has all the accessories for car, truck, bicycle, air mattress and all the sports balls. The unit comes...
