Amazing compressor for personal use
This compressor is quiet, sturdy and effective. It's the kind of equipment you never have to worry about, during use.
The noise level is somewhere around 5 to 7 Sones while compressing air. One of the better features of this compressor is the system with which the motor runs. If you keep your PSI high, the unit will store a good amount of air, and only have to run occasionally. Users who run lower PSI, such as scale hobbyists, will hear the motor more often.
My only complaints are fairly superficial: the suction-cup feet don't always hold the compressor down well enough, and the unit can rumble itself off your table if you let it. A swipe of alcohol on the cups and your desk will cure this problem. The much worse issue, though it likely won't effect any serious user, is the airbrush holster. After a short period of use, mine broke at the support base, becoming completely useless. This was easily solved by getting a dedicated airbrush holder. Still, users should...

Love it
Great compressor used professionally on a daily basis. It gets hot, but it continually at proper pressure and reliable. Highly recommended.
******This you GOT to read!
It is written "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:26. Your salvation should be above everything. Cry out to Jesus in repentance of your sins and He will give you eternal life.*Romans 10:9-13. Read the bible daily and obey what you read.

The compressor works just like the description the seller gave. Would definitely buy from him again.

The reason you should have read this message is because it is the most important message in the world (the gospel), and you probably will not hear it from any other. Visit areyouagoodperson.org . God Bless!

GOOD TOOL
I really like this tool. It works very well for the purpose for which I bought it- working in tight places. I would further comment on a review I read BEFORE buying this tool. IT DOES REQUIRE A HIGH VOLUME OF AIR!! A "kiddie compressor" will not do! I have a 6 Hp/ 33 gallon compressor and it works OK for this tool. A larger system would be better. So, if you wish to use this tool with a small volume compressor, you may be dissapointed in the performance of this tool.

small orbital sander
In the Canadian Woodworking magazine (Aug/Sep 08) it states this sander "is one of the few air sanders that can be operated on a portable air compressor" this is NOT true. This sander works less than one minute with a portable air compressor. I discovered later in the Woodcraft October Catalog that they note the sander requires a minimum of a 60 gallon capacity compressor or equiivalent to operate. I am sorry I bought this sander.
Magic Scratch Eraser
I'm a woodturner, and use this sander a lot for finishing bowls and other turned vessels. It's great for removing concentric scratches and tool marks that can happen when turning wood on a lathe. Mine has worked flawlessly in a busy shop for about four years so far. I keep it lubricated as described in the documentation and have had no problems with it at all. Yes, it requires a real compressor. The gallon and horsepower numbers mean nothing. If your compressor can't produce about 8 cfm of air at the required psi, expect it to run a lot. Previous reviews talking about "6 hp" compressors are going by the "peak" horsepower ratings, and not the actual running horsepower. If you're plugging your compressor into a 110v outlet, it's probably not gonna be able to keep up with this sander. (I know this because I used my Grex sander with a "6 hp" buzz bomb compressor for over a year before I got a compressor running a real 5 hp motor on a 40 amp 220v circuit.) If you've got a real compressor,...

• Uses standard hook and loop sanding paper of your choice
• Ergonomic housing with thermal isolator for continual usage
• Santoprene Grip for superior comfort with a variety of applications

air brush
I build plastic models as a hobby and I purchased a Grex Genesis XA single action airbrush with money I received for Christmas. I bought this model because I wanted a tool that would allow me to airbrush large sections with a single color. I use acrylic paints primarily albeit I do use lacquer based paints on occasion.

The airbrush has a unique design and some nice features--the knob to adjust airflow is an example. But it was also disappointing. The gravity feed design enables paint to leak down into the nozzle which in turn causes spatter on the model. It can be fixed by tightening down the airflow, but that somewhat defeats the process I purchased the brush for--large area coverage. Additionally, I had several problems with paint clogs. The clogs may have been due to user error--not properly mixing the paint, for example--but the clogs happened frequently than with any of my other airbrushes, causing me to break down the airbrush and clean the individual...

Cautious is my approach
I just finished watching a very informative video on figure painting where the instructor used a Grex single action brush for the priming process. I'm a Paasche guy from way back and I have several of their brushes, both single and double action. I have heard good things about the Grex airbrushes and the video demo was encouraging but the only review on this site causes me pause. I know of a hobby shop in my area that carries this product and they have hosted demonstrations for Grex in the past. I was ready to drop the bucks on this airbrush tonight but after reading the review on this model I am going to wait until I can actually see one in use and hopefully spray a little with it myself. I'm getting into figure painting in a big way and The Grex Genesis.XA seems to be just right for the task. I know that the Grex company puts on demonstrations from time to time so perhaps I'll get lucky and find something in the near future. I usually jump in feet first on a deal like this but I...
