air brush
I build plastic models as a hobby and I purchased a Grex Genesis XA single action airbrush with money I received for Christmas. I bought this model because I wanted a tool that would allow me to airbrush large sections with a single color. I use acrylic paints primarily albeit I do use lacquer based paints on occasion.

The airbrush has a unique design and some nice features--the knob to adjust airflow is an example. But it was also disappointing. The gravity feed design enables paint to leak down into the nozzle which in turn causes spatter on the model. It can be fixed by tightening down the airflow, but that somewhat defeats the process I purchased the brush for--large area coverage. Additionally, I had several problems with paint clogs. The clogs may have been due to user error--not properly mixing the paint, for example--but the clogs happened frequently than with any of my other airbrushes, causing me to break down the airbrush and clean the individual...

Cautious is my approach
I just finished watching a very informative video on figure painting where the instructor used a Grex single action brush for the priming process. I'm a Paasche guy from way back and I have several of their brushes, both single and double action. I have heard good things about the Grex airbrushes and the video demo was encouraging but the only review on this site causes me pause. I know of a hobby shop in my area that carries this product and they have hosted demonstrations for Grex in the past. I was ready to drop the bucks on this airbrush tonight but after reading the review on this model I am going to wait until I can actually see one in use and hopefully spray a little with it myself. I'm getting into figure painting in a big way and The Grex Genesis.XA seems to be just right for the task. Great American Made Compressor
I Bought this compressor to use for basic maintenance of my 4x4 truck on the trail and at home. The weight is more manageable than I thought to move around, the Round tube bars on top are comfortable to use for carrying and away from the hot parts. I run a 3/8 impact off of it and it works perfectly. The Motor runs quite loud but disengages and runs a little quieter once it reaches 125psi then kicks in again at 95psi. The motor builds pressure quickly and with constant use of a blow gun it mantains 90psi at running full speed. Quality of the Mi T M is top notch with braided lines, perfect powder coat and Made in The USA in Iowa. Mine was shipped direct from Mi T M in Iowa to my home in California in 4 days. It was boxed up really good and arrived without a Scratch. I checked the Mi T M website for service centers and they have several local to me, since I plan on keeping this a long time this was a concern of mine. 1 year warranty on compressor and 3 years on the motor how could you...

Ingersoll Rand SS3F2 review
I had an old Rand 4000 air compressor that was recalled (1986 model). As part of their recall program they let me choose from a number of different air compressors at a discounted price. I chose the SS3F2, 2hp 30 gallon Garage Mate since it is almost identical to my old Rand 4000. So far I'm very happy with this compressor. The first thing I was shocked about is how quiet it is. You can still listen to the radio while this thing is running! Also, with the 30 gallon tank, it has to run less anyway. Make sure you also buy the start up kit because when I got my compressor it did not have oil in it yet (or even include any). I found the start up kit for $24.95 online and it comes with 2x 0.5L bottles of oil and 2 air filters. The pump only holds 0.5L of oil so you have a full bottle left over for a future change. The start up kit also extends your factory warranty by 2 years. I highly recommend this air compressor and Ingersoll Rand products!

Quality Item
I was looking for a long term replacement for the "buzz bomb" compressors like on Sear models. This compressor is it. Runs quiet, large tank keeps pressure steady. Only slight problem was alignment of the handle attach bolt holes to the tank brackets was not good. Love it.

Smooth and Quiet
The compressor has been in service for two years now. It is quiet, smooth and recovers quickly. We ran it continuously for several hours on two separate occasions while air-stripping paint and running a small jack hammer but with good results. Although continuous use is not recommended by the manufacturer for this model the compressor performed without a whimper but did produce a significant amount of heat during these two periods and developed a little oil seepage from the crankcase gasket, but no leak. For a continuous use 5hp compressor you should consider the QR series from Quincy but keep in mind the QR model 325 would be grossly overkill for most users and very expensive by comparison, over $4000.00. Having a 50,000 hour service life this unit being reviewed will surely outlast me but it is nice to have equipment that I am sure will not let me down. Quality performer
From the time the compressor cycles on until the 80 gallon tank is once again fully charged, about one minute passes; at this rate it is going to take quite some time before replacing the break-in oil at the 100 hour mark. The compressor runs at a fairly low RPM and is thus moderately quiet and does not have that annoying sound most cheap compressors produce; in fact, it's kind of a nice rumble. Vibration is minimal, really minimal. Compressors of this type are not rated for a 100% duty cycle i.e. they are not designed to run continuously with no cycling on & off; however, we used it stripping paint at 150 psi for the better part of a day with a large external fan aiding the cooling and only tripped the motor reset once but it did have a few times to catch up while we moved ladders. This is a workhorse of a compressor. Because it is very heavy I mounted it on an industrial equipment dolly which allows for somewhat mobile use around the shop; as mobile as 700 pounds can be. Industrial Air Compressor 9 HP 9 GAL
I've used this compressor for about 30 hrs so far. Works very well. This is my third compressor. Both of my other compressors were DeWalts, one 5HP and one 9HP. DeWalt stopped making the gas portable compressors, so I decided on the Industrial Air as the next replacement. Below are the + and - I have. Overall I really like this compressor. The negative points are all small and are not a real issue with the engine and pump itself. Overall, I would recommend this product.

- Honda Engine works great. Between the engine and three pumps (verses standard two pumps from other companies), the RPM is lower than my other compressors and therefore more quiet.
- Customer Tech line is very helpful and I actually get a person to talk to after only a few minutes of wait time.
- One of the liquid filled pressure gauges developed a crack within a few hours of use and was leaking fluid, but when I call the Tech line in the manual, the group sent out a replacement...

Decent product worth the price.
I needed to replace the Siemens switch on my Ingersoll compressor, and chose to save a few bucks. So far, I feel that this switch is worth the money, and right now it works fine. The on/off switch feels a bit flimsy, and in general the assembly seems to lack the durability that I have seen in Square D and Siemens switches. Time will tell. I'm sure that it is an adequate budget alternative for most people. If it fails, I'll spend the extra money next time, but I'm the type of guy that usually buys the high-end brands.

Powermate 60 gal. Compressor
I have not yet powered up the compressor, but it has arrived in good order, no visible damage, and several days prior to its scheduled arrival. I will write more after the compressor sees some service. So far, I have no complaints.

Finally powered up the compressor and have operated it several times. So far it has worked quite well. Pumps to 150 lbs. pressure in a short time. I just use a few air tools so I do not tax the compressor to any degree. At the present time, I would recommend this item.
