Hitachi N3804AB3 1 1/2-Inch 18-Gauge Narrow Crown Finish Stapler
Hitachi N3804AB3 1-1/2-Inch 18-Gauge Narrow Crown Finish Stapler

soldering iron
I've used many brands of nail guns with various prices and qualities. The Hitachi Narrow Crown Finish Stapler definitely one of the best considering the low price. Light, and easy to use, it also has a switch for single shot or bump action which is wonderful. Most homeowner will feel much comfortable with single shot and able to check how many staple left with exposed rail. With a short practice, most people can gain most of the control of this staple and use it with ease. It has no problem driving 1 1/2 into wood and I felt it doesn't use much of air pressure as my compressor stay quiet longer than some other nail guns with similar capability.

The only thing I don't like is the kit does not come with sample staples and lubricant. It is not that I don't have them at home but it means the case does not design with designated places for those. minus one star for that.

Mighty Mouse
One thing I will add that the other reviewers did not mention is that this stapler packs a heck of a wallop. The power of this lightweight unit really amazed me.

The truth is, I did not know what to expect. I have never owned an air-powered stapler or nail gun. I planned to use this Hitachi stapler to put up kraft-faced insulation, and then later use it for trim work. Yeah, right. I loaded it with 0.50" staples. They went right through the paper tabs on the insulation and kept on going into the studs. I had to look hard to find them because they had been sunk so deeply.

I turned the air pressure down to 70 PSI, which is the minimum operating pressure and set the stapler's depth adjustment to minimum. No dice. Too powerful! I went back to using my Arrow T-50 Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Special.

I decided to get to know this little monster better. So I ran a test to see what it could do. I loaded it with 1.50" Senco staples and fastened a piece of...
excellent tool
The Hitach is a nice looking tool, light weight, and it is cool. When loading the bolt draws back and locks. Staples fit over the rail tightly, but slide smoothly, release button is easy to operate and positive (not sloppy).

The stapler needs at least fifty pounds of pressure, but will sink the 1.25 inch staples perfectly into pine at that setting. It uses little air, so the compressor isn't called on much.

In "automatic" bump mode this gun will shoot all day. I was stapling 3' lengths of chicken wire to a wooden frame. The gun has never jammed.

As much as I hate manual staplers, I love this tool!

It is a joy to use, and accurate. I highly recommend this tool.

A Do-it-yourself-er's Initial Thoughts
I purchased the MIIIFS stapler to lay approximately 1,700 sq. ft. of 3/4 inch red oak flooring in my new home. After installing well over 1,400 sq. ft. here are some of my observations:

1) The tool makes it very easy for a novice to put down a nice, tight hardwood floor. If the boards are laying tight an easy swing of the mallet is all it takes to fully seat a staple (more on this later). If the board is warped the MIIIFS can stand up to a solid mallet smack without any trouble. The mallet's plastic face, by the way, does not show any signs of cracking so far.

2) The stapler efficiently uses the its air so you do not need a big compressor. I have been using a 1.5 hp unit with a 6 gallon tank. Output is set at 85 psi. I doubt such a small compressor could supply two nailers simultaneously, but it handles one quite nicely.

3) The stapler did develop a small air leak near the top shortly after I began using it. The amount of leaking is small (based on psi drop at the...

Floor Stapler for Installing Hardwood Flooring - Bamboo, Oak, Maple, Brazilian Cherry, Hickory, Walnut, Hand Scraped, Prefinished and Engineered Wood Flooring
Floor Stapler for installing hardwood floors between 1/2 - 3/4 inches thick. Used by many contractors and DIY floor installers this tool works well for all skill levels. The sturdy long handle allows for great control and keeps you from breaking your back. The staple magazine holds 100 floor staples, and staple length can vary between 1 1/2" to 2" depending on what you need. The air inlet is standard 1/4". Air consumption is low at 4.5 CFM and allows you to use a small compressor. Input pressure should be controlled between 60 and 100 PSI. With a little practice this tool will allow you to lay hundreds of square feet per day. Depending on the type of wood you will need to vary the input pressure. Bamboo is very hard and brittle and requires a low pressure to prevent damage. Teak and some other very dense hard woods will require 100 PSI. You should test on a piece of scrap plank to make sure you are getting good results. The floor stapler is used by placing it on the edge of a piece of hardwood floor. The included mallet is then used to strike the actuator and fire the staple in. The most difficult part of the process is just moving the floor stapler around. Include in the kit is a Carrying Case, Floor Stapler , Safety Glasses, Air Tool Oil, Base Plate, S3 Hex Key S4 Hex Key S5 Hex Key Wrench, and Instruction Manual.

Porter-Cable US58 1/4-Inch to 5/8-Inch 22-Gauge C-Crown Upholstery Stapler
The Porter-Cable US58 1/4-Inch to 5/8-Inch, 22-Gauge C-Crown Upholstery Stapler is an easy to use pneumatic stapler with plenty of useful features. It uses standard Senco C Type 22-gauge, 3/8-inch crown staples to get the job done right, and it includes a 1-inch nose extension for those tough to reach areas. The high-capacity bottom-load magazine handles 185 staples, and the driver guide moves back to easily clear jams from the magazine. The US58 stapler requires 70-120 PSI air pressure, so it will work with most air compressors.

Great stapler, but a word of caution
Light and effective. It does its job as well as I could have hoped. Not a single jam that was not obviously my fault. I have spent several times the cost of this tool looking for a stapler that would do what this one does as well as it does. Why the enthusiasm? Well, most staplers not meant for construction site abuse are not very good. This one is.

A word of caution. This is not, nor was it ever intended to be, a construction stapler. The staples it is designed to use are not big enough nor thick enough to be of much use for construction site purposes. This is a professional grade upholstery stapler.

Where to get staples
This gun is very comparable to other industrial upholstery staplers in features, design and quality, but it is considerably less expensive.

Since this is an upholstery stapler you can get staples from any upholstery supply shop. A hardware store will not carry them. When you go to your local upholstery supply shop ask for staples compatible with Empire 7, BeA 71, Bostitch BA71, JK 670, Rainco 7, or Senco C series staplers. Amazon's price for replacement staples is good considering they are galvanized, but you can get liquor finish staples cheaper at your local store. Many will carry stainless steel staples as well.

This stapler does not come with a case because it is an industrial tool. Upholstery shops do not bother putting their tools in boxes at the end of the day. Also upholstery shops don't make a lot of saw dust, at least not in the fabric part of the shop. For those using this stapler in a general purpose shop, a case would be nice but, as mentioned,...
OUCH!...
I bought this stapler to re-cover the vinyl pillions and seats on my boat. And, approximately 8,000 staples later, I can say with certainty that it is definitely the ideal tool for any type of upholstery work. It's light, easy to hold, has an extended nose to get into tight spaces, and is powerful enough to completely sink the staple through several layers of fabric, even into hardwood. It's also extremely easy to re-load, and I've never experienced any type of jam or mis-fire. Construction is typical Porter-Cable (my personal favorite brand), meaning it appears to be built super tough--I expect it to last a lifetime.
So then, why only 4 stars? Unlike any other pneumatic 'nail gun' I've seen, this stapler does not have a safety tipped nose. Usually, the nose has to be pressed against something in order for the trigger to be functional. But, with this one, there is no safety tip--you just pull the trigger and it starts firing. Add to that the fact that the trigger is very...

Good tool, nearly useless instructions
This tool is a good value, coming in at about half the price of the others offered on Amazon. It does the job just fine, and while the fit and finish is not equivalent to higher priced tools it will give good service.

My main criticism is the manual: it is obviously written by someone whose first language is not English, important details are left out, loading instructions very ambiguous, and none of the specifications (operating pressure, staple size, etc.) are given in units that an American would understand. This is OK if sold to someone outside of the American market but potentially dangerous for those who are and can't do the conversion. Staple size is obvious because they are standard and Amazon sells the Surebonder staples (which are a good product and value as well - I bought an assortment with the staple gun). Pressure: The maximum operating pressure in the safety warning works out to about 100psi. I get great results with 1/2" staples through loose weave...

Use only Surebonder Staples
Using Crex 1/4 staples jammed the loading slide. Only one staple would feed because Crex staples clamped the slide too tightly. This staple gun worked without flaw when loaded with Surebonder staples. Very easy to load and position for upholstering a captain's chair.
Little but mighty
I love this stapler. I ordered it to do an upholstery job. My husband is in construction and has all the 'man-size' tools. His stapler wore me out and was too large to get in some of the tight spaces. This stapler is just the right size and strong enough to fire into the hardwoods. It's lightweight enough that I can use it without breaking my wrists. It's a great buy!

Patented Two-in-One Magazine and Driver System
This dual-purpose tool has a patented two-in-one magazine and driver system that accommodates both cleats and staples. Designed for 15.5- and 16-gauge staples from 1 to 2 inches, and "L" cleats from 1-1/2 to 2 inches, the magazine has a 100 staple/cleat capacity. Loading the fastener is quick and easy--simply pull the magazine back, drop in the fasteners, and release the drawer--it takes less than 10 seconds.

Precise Air-Powered Operation
The Ramsond RMM4 operates with the power of compressed air (60 - 120 PSI) and is equipped with a standard 1/4-inch NPT air inlet for easy compatibility. To use, simply attach your air compressor's hose to the RMM4's air inlet, then rest the nose of the RMM4 squarely against your work surface to fire.

The direction and angle of the staple/cleat will be automatically aligned for precision driving. And with only a slight strike of the mallet upon the actuator, the RMM4 will shoot a cleat nail or staple through your flooring at the proper angle and depth.

Patented Air-Booster Chambers
Most conventional flooring nailers/staplers store compressed air within the body of the tool. Upon mallet strike, the air reserved in the body of the tool is released, driving the blade and shooting the fastener. The RMM4 takes this design one step further. In addition to storing compressed air inside its body, the RMM4 continuously stores compressed air in two patented air acceleration/booster chambers located in the handle.

By storing extra compressed air, these sealed chambers ensure that the fasteners shoot with sufficient force for perfect penetration in the flooring surface. The booster chambers also accommodate quicker retraction of the actuator and blade when compared with conventional units.

Non-Marring Base System
Featuring an adjustable non-marring base system, the RMM4 provides protection against scratches and allows you to drive fasteners fast and close to the wall. The base system is equipped with two composite disks in the front, a middle guide, and a rear nylon-derivative plate. The combination of these three mechanisms ensures that the surface of your hardwood flooring is not marred or damaged during installation. It also provides for tool balance and optimal positioning against the work surface for fast, accurate installation.

Works with Most Thicknesses of Hardwood Flooring
The RMM4 series is suitable for virtually all thickness of hardwood flooring (1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, 3/4 inch, and 25/32 inch). It comes with two nylon composite base plates--simply install the appropriate base plate for your application.

Durable and Comfortable
With over 30,000 units sold in North America, the RMM4 is sure to deliver on its promises. Designed for long-term use, the Ramsond RMM4 is an industrial-strength power tool that's comfortable to use. Its body is constructed of a durable, lightweight die-cast alloy, and its driver blade is constructed of heat-treated hardened steel for long-lasting resilience. For user comfort, the RMM4 has a long-reach handle with a padded cushioned grip that offers increased balance and control.

The RMM4 Two-in-One Hardwood Flooring Stapler and Cleat Nailer is manufactured under strict ISO guidelines for quality control and safety, and it is backed by a one-year warranty.

Great tool that does it's job without much babysitting.
Was skeptical, as I usually am, but this tool lives up to its name.

Have installed alot of 3/4" 2-1/4" plank oak flooring with it so far, have had 1 misfire. Instructions say to not hit it too hard, but I found that it takes a good solid whack to get it to fire completely. Once you do that, it's a breeze. Always seats where it's supposed to, and fires the nails to the right depth. Too light a whack will not sink the nails.

It's really solidly built and balanced really nicely.

One drawback, I wish I could check magazine level without opening it up, but it's not too bad. It makes a hollower sound when you're dry firing.

Great Nailer for the Price!
As most other people who bought this flooring nailer, I couldn't justify spending 400 plus on the Bostich or Porter Cable. I don't like renting tools from the home improvement stores because I like the freedom to use the tools whenever I want so I can do the job at my own pace. I gave it 4 stars because when I first hooked up the air supply, I heard some air leaking from where the handle meets the body of the nailer. I found that some of the bolts were not fastened down all the way. I just took the wrench that was supplied and tighten the bolts and it hasn't leaked air since. The other reason for 4 stars is that the logo's and SN are just stickers, and the user manual is not that great for beginners like me. As far as the functioning of the nailer, it gets 6 stars! I put down 3/4 inch pre-finished oak floor and the RMM4 worked perfect without a single misfire! Overall, I would recommend this tool in a heartbeat, especially to those who are trying to decide whether or not to...
Good Floor Stapler
I read all the reviews and ordered the nail gun. I opened the box, oiled up the gun and off we went (boys with new toys) it worked great until I disconnected the air compressor on the 2nd day and when I hooked it back up it developed an air leak on handle the bolt where coming loose and the gasket had slipped out the side so I shoved the gasket back in and tightened all the bolts and it worked like a charm.
I'm only 200sqft into a 600sqft project, not one miss fire and the only problem I had was with the bolts being loose on handle. I would recommend this nail gun for the price, before using check all bolts, it was easy with the allen wrench right on the tool.
I gave this a 4 because the handle on the hammer is loose after 4 days of use. A little better made hammer would be nice.
Good luck!
